Non-Wicking Binders

For High Speed Cable Manufacturing
Fil–Tec engineering has developed a proprietary process that renders polyester, nylon and aramid fibers anti–wicking — non–hydroscopic (Hydrophobic). The products also exhibit low shrinkage and uniform elongation that have minimal effect on the quality of base fibers’ initial characteristics. Multiple denier sizes are available. Designed for operating speeds of 4000+ RPM on soft buffer tube fiber optic cables.

Fil–Tec, Inc. offers two non–wicking product groups — bonded or coated. Packages are wound to high density (hardness) and excellent balance, resulting in more meters per package, minimal vibration during high speed operation, minimal dusting and no “ballooning.” All products meet non–wicking test #191–A test method 4504 (6 hour anti–wicking test).

Bonded Product Group (Non–wicking)
Our bonded yarns are designed to run on the highest speed, most demanding production lines. Individual filaments are bonded together to assure bundle integrity and provide increased abrasion resistance. Hard, balanced packages combined with a controlled draw–off tension assures package integrity up to 5000 RPM’s. Fil–Tec’s bonded yarns are available in single or two end put–up and are clean running with minimal dusting or powdering.
