2007 World Candle COnference Logo
Thanks for Stopping By our Booth

We enjoyed meeting with everyone at the 2007 ALAFAVE / NCA World Candle Congress Suppliers Tradeshow which was held June 26th in Cancun, Mexico. Fil–Tec's patented candlewick construction and unique manufacturing process assures you get the most consistent wick available. Our goal has always been to help our customers make better candles and we look forward to doing that in the future.

Fil–Tec Wick In The Movies . . . Again

Pirates of the Carribean PosterCandle Sceen

Mike Kaplan of Ymittos Candle Company in Lowell, Mass. was contracted to make all the candles used in the 2006 Pirates of the Caribbean, Dead Man’s Chest and this summer’s Pirates of the Caribbean, At World’s End.

The candles were made of beeswax and they had to burn to specific criteria established by the film’s production company. Ymittos Candles has made movie candles for many movies and they require a very consistent burning wick.

Mike prefers using our Self–Trim candlewick. He has told us before “It’s the best wick I have ever used”. Another great review for Fil–Tec candlewick, enjoy the movie.

The Most Consistent Wick

Greg and Chip would like to thank everyone who stopped by Fil–Tec’s Booth at the recent NCA Tradeshow in Phoenix, Arizona. They enjoyed meeting with candle makers and discussing the consistency and other advantages of our unique patented wick construction. They also had a chance to talk with many current customers to discuss upcoming projects.

In addition, Chip and Greg demonstrated the new password protected Customer Center testing site, which has been very well received by our customers. The Phoenix weather was great and so was the tradeshow thanks again.

In September of 2003, the U.S. Patent Office granted Fil–Tec a patent for our unique candlewick construction:
U.S. Patent 6,699,034

A few months back we got a call from Mike Kaplan of Ymittos Candle Company in Lowell, Mass. He was contracted by Universal Studios to produce and supply all the candles for their sequel to American Pie entitled American Wedding. The candles were tapers and sticks and were to be used in all the church scenes and in a restaurant scene early in the film. The studio required that the candles be made of beeswax; more importantly that they burn evenly without any drips. Not an easy task considering the long hours of shooting scenes by candlelight. Mike had been working with our Self–Trim wick and found that it performed exactly as needed for the film’s requirements. He told us “It’s the best wick I have ever used”. To us that’s a great review!

On September 25, 2003 we hosted Cafe Fil–Tec in Seattle at the Westin Hotel during the Fall NCA Meeting. We had a great turnout and enjoyed meeting with everyone.

We displayed our unique patented candlewick including the NEW Ultra Core, which was developed as an alternative to zinc core. It offers rigidity in the pour and during the burn but without the metal wire.
